Hello, I'm Renn! I am a bisexual autistic sergal who's been yapping for way too long on the Internet. On the side, I am also trying to finish my PhD in communication science and data science.

Who am I?

So yeah, I am Renn Kane (he/they), 28. I am French, but I am currently living in Québec, where I am pursuing a PhD in communication science at Université Laval. My research focuses on health misinformation on social media, but I also take a lot of interest in science communication, philosophy of technics and technocriticism. I was originally meant to be a data science engineer but pivoted away from these career prospects to nurture my growing passion for humanities. Though I still like to tinker with computers, and some skills I gained during my engineering degree are pretty useful for my current research.

When I am not having an existential crisis in front of my computer, I really (reaaaaaaally) enjoy rock climbing. I am also a runner, albeit not a very good one. One could say I have all the attributes of a PhD student in their quarter-life crisis. I got diagnosed with autism and ADHD late in life. As a result, reading and communicating emotions are not life skills I am very competent at, so I have other ways of letting people know that I care about them. Cuisine is my love language: when I don't know how to put my feelings for someone into words, cooking them a warm meal helps with expressing them.

So, about that blue boi

Renn Kane is the name of my own persona, a Western Sergal with a semi-mechanical arm. I originally designed them in 2014, with the help of Zaziss, an amazing French artist who's got a keen eye for character design ( you should definitely check out their work)! I had gotten into the furry fandom a few years prior, and wanted this character to be my online visage. They have been around for the better part of my Internet presence, but they became much more than that throughout the years. Existing in online spaces as Renn allowed me to explore a lot of aspects of who I am, and helped me come to terms with a lot of repressed stuff.

Renn went through a redesign in 2022, once again with the assistance of Zaziss.

Small tubes go out of these vials, connecting to the glove as if they're a fuel of some sort.
